David Bolarinwa
U-17 Men 100/200m International level
The country's fastest 15-year-old in 2009 summer finished second in the World Schools Championships in Qatar in December. With a best time of 10.71, David produced 10.76 off almost no speed work in the latter event, and is beginning to match some of his senior peers stride for stride in training. Without doubt, one who will hog headlines in the future.
Described by coach John Powell as one of the biggest talents he has coached with a golden future, but one who has a massive amount to learn about the sport in a very short pace of time.
David Bolarinwa became the leading teenage sprinter in Europe after two scintillating performances in the European Youth Olympoic Trials in Mosow. His winning 10.68s 100 metres performance saw him immediately qualify for the world youth olympics in Singapore in August, and his 21.49 effort that earned silver in the 200m clinched silver in the Moscow final.
As if this was not enough, he went on to win the under-20 England 100m Championship in an incredible 10.47 seconds, leaving him ranked second under-18 in the world at the time (19/6/10). He also took third in the 200m the same weekend with 21.17 seconds, leaving him third and fifth on the British all-time lists respectively.
